Nanna’s Sauce



Ingredients

  • 1 lb hot (or sweet) Italian sausage

  • 3 (28 oz) cans tomatoes

  • 3 (6 oz) cans tomato paste

  • 3 tsp salt

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 3 bay leaves

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • Pinch red pepper flakes

  • 1⁄8 tsp baking soda


Directions

  1. Brown sausage in oil in a large stockpot. Add all other ingredients, and stir together. Let simmer for 3 hours.

  2. Add baking soda to neutralize acids.

  3. Add Nanna’s meatballs.

  4. Serve with pasta cooked al dente.
