Ingredients
1 lb hot (or sweet) Italian sausage
3 (28 oz) cans tomatoes
3 (6 oz) cans tomato paste
3 tsp salt
3 cloves garlic
3 bay leaves
2 tsp onion powder
Pinch red pepper flakes
1⁄8 tsp baking soda
Directions
Brown sausage in oil in a large stockpot. Add all other ingredients, and stir together. Let simmer for 3 hours.
Add baking soda to neutralize acids.
Add Nanna’s meatballs.
Serve with pasta cooked al dente.
